How it works

Hyperbaric Chamber

The Hyperbaric Chamber is a medical device, a hyperbaric environment – 1.45 ATM – where the patient enters, breathes O2 at 100% through a mask and obtains the benefits generated by the Hyperoxia.

This process allows oxygen to reach the brain, cartilages, bones, and tissues, even those less irrigated. It also increases the control of infections and helps in the recovery of numerous pathologies.

How it works

According to Dalton’s Physical Law, the total pressure of a gas mixture is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the gases that compose it. The air we breathe is a mixture of gases where the 78% is Nitrogen and the 21% is Oxygen (O2). This gas is carried into the blood through the diffusion process. This process depends on the difference in gas pressure between the blood capillary and the pulmonary alveolus. The higher the pressure difference between compartments, the greater O2 diffusion into blood, increasing its concentration.

If atmospheric air pressure is increased in a certain amount, O2 pressure will equally increase. Thus, the Oxygen is carried through the blood connected to the Hemoglobin (Hgb) within the red blood cells.

In normal conditions and breathing air at 1 ATM, Hgb carries 97% of O2, therefore, the red blood cells binding capacity to the O2 is almost saturated.

If we increase the amount of O2 breathed by mask and we add a pressurised environment (Hyperbaric), O2 diluted in blood (Henry’s Law) and in all body fluids (blood, lymph, joint and spinal fluid) is increased.

According to this principle, the treatments with Hyperbaric Chamber helps and makes the healing process more efficient, reducing tissues inflammation, improving metabolism, reducing wounds recovery time, accelerating the post-surgical process, making synergy with other treatments, and preventing diseases.
